🤗 Hey! My name is Abe, which is short for “Abraham” (not the Japanese or Amharic “Abe”). It was given at my birth by my mother who thought it sounded like my Chinese name Bohan Hou (侯博瀚). I am looking for an NLP PhD program (potentially a joint J.D. or PhD in Social Policy) starting in Fall 2025. I am a fourth-year undergraduate at Johns Hopkins University. I triple major in Computer Science, Sociology, and Mathematics.
🧩 I am broadly interested in exploring the bidirectional interactions between AI and society, specifically on: 1) building NLP and AI applications for public policies and law, and 2) AI safety and governance. I worked on detection of machine-generated texts and currently work on Legal NLP and generative agent-based modeling for public policy.
